Programme:

The crowd of 7,630 included 1,670 Leeds fans. David Batty returned to action and showed he still had his passing skills, while Matthew Kilgallon was outstanding in the Leeds defence. United had two French trialists Joel Sammi and Sebastien Rostoe who were given a run in the final thirty-three minutes. Sammi replaced Gary Kelly, Rostoe came on for James Milner, and also in the fifty-seventh minute Simon Johnson made it a quadruple substitution as he replaced Mark Viduka. Further changes were made after seventy minutes with Scott Carson taking over from Paul Robinson in goal, Harpal Singh replaced Jason Wilcox at Outside Left and Jamie McMaster came on for Alan Smith at Inside Right.
